Effective Role- Models Build A Strong and Progressive Nation(Revised)

Role- modeling is the most essential and powerful tool of a teacher in educating the children. It is the most effective way of passing on the knowledge, skills and values because today's children are great imitators. Teachers exist in the educational system for the purpose of modeling and to have an effective and quality education. And in this reason, teachers need to be a good and effective role-models by practicing set of moral values.
What are moral values? According to the author of allaboutphilosophy.org website, moral values are the standards of good and evil. They are the rules by which everyone make decisions in life about bad or good, right or wrong, should or should not. If the person's doings are leading to the good, they are called virtues however if they are leading to the bad, they are called vices. Therefore, what's good for the teachers are virtues to build a strong, peaceful and progressive nation. If most of the teachers, if not all, have virtues in life, the pillars of our nation is really big and strong. It is attainable if only all will practice and transcend effectively to the students they are teaching.
Since children are great imitators, they absorb values for better or worse through example of others like their peers, parents, playmates and teachers. They are observing and listening to what others are doing. They catch easily the things that interest them and imitate without weighing according to the standards of moral values. Thus, if teachers do not have virtues in life, how can they pass it on to their students if they do not have those? Some teachers are teach the children foolishly by telling, "Follow and do what I teach you, but do not follow and do what I do". Do you think it is an effective strategy? It is really a big no! Teachers should do first, then teach.
Teachers must practice set of values for the children to emulate because a teacher who has right values, who lives and practices those values will no doubt transcend those to his students effectively. They must have the willingness to vitalize their convictions with deeds, practice good moral habits over and over throughout life. They must be the teacher whose manner are gentle and refined, and whose characters mirrors the inner soul appealing to God who created us, the total picture of a good role-model.

Liked the article. I really think though that without the parents, not matter what teachers do, the kids will emulate the parents. That does not mean though that we should give up hope. If we put in front of us, those we wish to be like we become them. If we show others who we wish to emulate, eventually our little disciples will follow... Hopefully.
