2010 Election
This year's coming election is so thrilling and exciting but scary because of the new technology used for casting of votes and printing of election returns. The BEI's, especially the chairmen have great responsibilities because the PCOS machine is entrusted to them for many of the BEI's had not passed the training conducted by the DOST.
In our polling place at Talairon Central Elementary School, Talairon, Oroquieta City, the testing ans sealing was done last night at eight o'clock in the evening. The PCOS machines were delivered by the Smartmatic representatives at five o'clock in the afternoon but the ballot boxes were brought at 7 p.m. There were watchers present from the different parties and requested residents to do the mock election.
As a chairman in our clustered precinct and the only IT representative, I felt mixed emotions from running the diagnostic to the open voting. I was following the Protocol provided by the Smartmatic however some of the steps there were missing compared to the given manual given to us during the training at CDO. Since it was the first time and there were many residents and watchers observed us, it cannot be denied that I including the PCOS technician loss my self-confidence. I got nervous, as a result I have not printed the Diagnosis Report. Though the machine passed and I have printed Initialization Report, Election Returns and Transmission Report, I am really worried of not printing the Diagnosis Report. To solve the problem, I let my Poll Clerk wrote a minutes about it.
I submitted the results this morning at the COMELEC and delighted when it was okay. Thanks God and we are hoping on the Election Day. There will be no untoward incidents and it will be done peacefully.
