Summer Reading Camp

Summer vacation is the long awaited time for teachers because this is the only time where we can rest from all stressful activities during schooldays. However, our Regional Director suggested an activity to enhance the pupils' reading and comprehension skills this summer that is why we have to extend our services.

We were called for a conference yesterday about the "Summer Reading Camp" to be launched on April 19, 2010 until May 7, 2010. All teachers were present and excited about the said activity though it is an extension of our service. This activity enhances the pupils' reading and comprehension skills through teaching them jazz chants, reader's theater, chamber theater, role-playing, story retelling and oral interpretation. The activities suggested are very interesting and appropriate to the learners in every grade, however we are allowed to use other activities also that are suited to our learners.

We are given matrix and provided hand-outs of the suggested activities and made a teaching schedule for all teachers involved in this activity.

Now, we are starting campaigning our pupils to attend the Summer Reading Camp. I had informed already my class this 2009-2010 through text. And I am very glad to know that they and their parents are interested too.
