Trainings
I just arrived from a tireful but enjoyable activity at Dynasty Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City. It was tireful because of the long land travel from here to Cagayan de Oro City. It took 6 hours. However, the training about the operation of the new Precinct Count Optical Scanner Machine(PCOS) to be used during the election day is so interesting and the speakers/trainers from COMELEC were so committed who had really the heart and patience to teach us in the operation of the machine in the preparation for the coming 2010 Automated Election.
I am very grateful that I was one of the teachers in our school selected to serve during the election day on May 10, 2010. We're only 6 in our school and I am one of the chairmen of the three polling places. It is a big task and responsibility given for me being chosen as the chairman of the Board of Election Inspectors in our polling place but I have the confidence in myself. And I know God will not leave me at that time for with Him nothing is impossible.
The operation of the PCOS machine is very easy. At first when it was introduced to us by one of the speakers on the first day of our training, we're hesitant to touch any peripherals of the machine for we're afraid we can damage it that's why we touch with extra careful. But when we learned and understood all the functions of each hardware and the operation of the software used, all of us enjoy operating it. The machine and the software installed is really friendly and easy to use and understand. We didn't find it hard to understand each function and commands.
The second day of our training was the final judgment whether we'll be certified as able and competent Board of Election Inspectors or be replaced. We're given a written and actual test conducted by the Department of Science and Technology(DOST). All of us had mixed emotions on that day for it was our first time to take an examination conducted by the DOST. But we found out that the test questions were not as difficult as we thought. However, if somebody did not study well before taking it, I believe that he couldn't pass the examination too, just like the three teachers from the other batch who were advised to retake the test. All trainees from our batch had passed both the written and actual examinations compared to the other batch trained. It was really our great gratitude to the trainers and to God who had done their best for our own good.
