Preparing for the National Achievement Test 2010

The NAT or National Achievement Test is to be given by the Department of Education for students in Third and Sixth grade to assess their knowledge of the lessons they learned in a full year study. The preparation of teachers and students is not easy for it’s not a usual test they do everyday. It is made by the national people in the Department of Education where the test questions are extracted from the competencies in the grade. Private and public schools are involved in this test and aimed to get the 75% up mastery level.
The reviewing of the previous lessons learned from first to fourth grading period is intensively conducted. Teachers and students both allocate extra time even on Saturdays and Sundays just to increase the previous result into 75% up so that the school would not belong to the low performing schools in the country.
Teachers need to do something to meet the needs of all students and identify who have learning deficiences in order to be given assistance. They are producing many photocopies of reviewers for the students to feel at ease every review time even in their own expense. They must find ways just to meet their goal to increase the previous result. It can’t be denied also that most students in the barrio schools come from poor families and spending money for their reviewers is not more important that is why teachers need to spend from their own pcoket. However, it is a great blessing ang gratitude to all teachers in Oroquieta City Division for having a great leader in the person of Assistant Superintendent Jonathan S. Dela Peña. The division gives great importance of the performance in every school for the coming National Achievement Test by providing reviewers to all schools in Oroquieta City Division.
Aside from the reviewers, the Division conducts a mock test in preparation for it. There are two batches of mock tests to be given to students in Third and Sixth grade that could probably assess the students and will serve as a guiding compass for the teachers.
The Superintendent stressed out during the orientation of all the proctors and chief examiners that they should not act out like barbaric proctors or examiners to the children upon conducting the test in order for the examinees to comfortably and choose the right answer, thus ,would probably yield a good result.
The preparation is not easy but because of the maxim, "If you have grown good seeds, you can reap good harvest too", teachers mission and vision in education prevail. Though their time for the family are temporarily borrowed both from the children and teachers because of extending their time for the review, they believe that, "Work will be done by men on earth, Blessings come from God".
The entire teaching force in all schools are expecting good results and performance of students, along with the hope of the Lord’s assistance and blessings at that time to have a desirable result in the National Achievement Test.
